Welcome to the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Atish Dipankar University of Science and Technology (ADUST).

The Department of CSE strives for graduate highly competent students with the potential of becoming the leaders in their field and also to impart knowledge which allows them to understand the implications of their work on both to themselves as well to the society as a whole.

Department of Computer Science and Engineering at ADUST, since its inception, has been offering two undergraduate programs in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Computer Science and Information (CSI) with a focus on developing skills for ICT industries worldwide. The designed program provides students with the fundamental skills needed to become an accomplished IT specialist. The program also aims at a wider knowledge of the subject, rather than a mere understanding of the existing commercial approaches. The degree is designed for a wide range of students, including those who wish to pursue a career in software engineering, computer programming, or related areas, and also those who wish to move on to study for higher degrees in the computing and information technology areas, either at home or abroad.

The department believes in a philosophy of Active Learning which is reflected in our curriculum and teaching styles. The Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) curriculum has been designed with both theoretical and industry-oriented courses. The department provides state of the art laboratory facilities, with guidance from the top-notch faculties, to bring out the best from the students. In their last academic year, students will be able to choose a concentration area or any other elective courses to focus their careers according to their interests. Furthermore, a student of CSE must not only have a sound basis in the fundamentals of basic sciences of the computer but also should be aware of socio-economic problems in the country. Therefore, courses in science, humanities, economics, accounting are also included in the curricula.

Vision

It is the optimum combination of knowledge generation and application that makes the distinctive feature of the department of CSE. The researches have been focused on responding to local and global real-world crises as well as in multidisciplinary researches conducted in the department which crossing the frontiers of traditional methods to create new knowledge. The department is keen to fulfill its social responsibility by taking up projects to automate institutional processes at the university and national levels, educate and train people, especially the young people of the country, through workshops on programming, software design, and other ICT training programs. The department opens its doors towards diversity. People from all over the country, from different cultural backgrounds, come to the department and become a part of the same culture that is practiced in the department.

AI AND ROBOTICS LABORATORY

The main focus of this lab is to research on intelligent systems by applying different AI algorithms and methods. AIRL is focusing on different research field like Cognitive Robots, Robot-Sensor Systems, Automated Reasoning etc.

NETWORKING LABORATORY

This laboratory has been set up with well equipment’s like Servers, Cables (UTP, STP, Optical fiber, DTE-DCE etc.), access points, GPS, connector, crumpling tools, cable tester, NIC, RJ45 connectors, routers, switches, hubs and other networking kits. Packet tracer software is used for introducing technical details.

PROGRAMMING LABORATORY

The Faculty of Science and Information Technology has two computer laboratories located at the Room # 204 and 205. Each one is equipped with highly configured PCs running with operating systems Windows/Linux and with latest programming, graphics and database software’s. The programming languages like C, C++, Java, MATLAB etc. to support the hands on laboratory practices for different courses, and students also participate on-line ACM programming competition.

SOFTWARE & SIMULATION LABORATORY

The Software Engineering Lab is equipped with a Server, 30 desktop computers, and a multimedia projector. All the computers of the lab are networked. A range of software’s are used to support lab classes and research activities like programming, database systems, software engineering, computer networking, and high-performance simulation and modeling.
